Skies,

You can place restrictions on what you yourself create; the content that is; I choose to place everything under the Creative Commons. As far as Public Domain works go; we all have rights to do with them as we please, attribution is not even required. That is the Utopia of the Commons.

Garthus: what is the difference between a Public Domain or Creative Commons for a GD forum ? Is there a choice then ?

Skies,

Public Domain is the generic way of referring to works which no individual can claim rights to. Air is Public Domain, regardless of what the Government may say, since it move around no one can claim ownership to certain molecules in the air. Creative Commons is a license developed for legalistic purposes which allows an individual to place a non-restrictive copyright on a work of theirs. For example, when I digitized Karma;

http://www.archive.org/details/Karma_A_Story_Of_Early_Buddhism

By putting it under the Creative Commons license; any additional work which I added is also placed in the Public Domain, which means that no intelectual scum-types can try to claim it for theirs just because they may have been paid by a library to scan the work.

Like wise the materials which I personally post like poetry:

http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=poem%20garthus%20AND%20mediatype%3Atexts

Are also free for anyone to take, borrow, use and incorporate into their own work without attribution.

Yes ,Garthus , I understood what you said this time . I also tried to get access to your book on ealy karma , to read ,without loading yet,and nowhere could I find button/spot to click on that landed at reading said book !If I really knew HOW to read a book on archive.org ,I'd like that ... except it tires the eyes to read long pages on PC!

Skies,

I just rederived the book, it was put up before they used the on-line reader. 15 minutes to an hour or so, it will be done and ready to read on line. It is hort so it will not take to long. I pulled this book from the dumpster at a local university; it is probably worth over $1,000 US dollars. Librarirains today do not have a clue, they are destroying more books everyday than during the Nazi regime in Germany.

Gerry,

Re your "Librarians today do not have a clue, they are destroying more books everyday than during the Nazi regime in Germany."

How did the qualify as librarian's?

In NZ, we would suggest they got their license out of a corn-flakes box. (free gift)

Peter

I agree with you ,Garthus ! In France they also destroy thousands of books too and not only publis librairies ,bookstores ,publishers , all do it ! Thre is even a rotten systemm to stall good books from being found for clients ,and heavy laws to ruin those who don't accept phonies's "plitically correct' . Less freedom to write , worse than in USA ,a real shame remining me of old Vatican 's persecution of intelligence so as to control people ! The jerkos whaking jaws to control infos /books, also get rich careers in politics, and parades on tv/radios ,and are pissed about last frontier front ,wordwide Internet !
